The matter is often the way to embrace things, manners and notions about life. Through matter we can express, we can define, we can create. The matter of a home though is not only in the furniture, floor coverings, tables, spoons of tv set. In order to love things, one must definitely learn how to appreciate them first. Just like it’s with people.
Matter of a home – a minimalist dream
When we need light, we open up windows, remove curtains. When we need solitude, we cover up ourselves, go away, hide from the madding crowds of everyday life. In both ways, we do what we want so we could feel the way we want to feel. It’s a story about decisions.
Yes, sometimes is quite harsh to go out in the world and create the life for yourself. But after all, it’s probably what life is all about. About being constructive and steady to the toughness of every day. In this project Apparel architecture studio in Canada + a young couple looking fo a new dwelling made a decision based on their beliefs. The once-upon-a-time-dark premise has been uncommonly unfriendly and untidy. Full of someone else’s life. With bright ideas and will the residence transformed into quite a home with light, personal atmosphere and a touch which is possible to be reached only when we do things by heart.
Step by step
With all the rooms divided in four floors the most important thing for the designer studio and the owners was the connections between them to be practical, comfortable and so neat that one could just sit on the stairs to read the first few pages of a book, browse in the web for while or even meditate if you want so.
All the King’s men
The favorites, the most adorable, the best of the best, the stuff we need in our home and we kill for. The old radio, grandma’s pot, all the CD’s, the two stools, the new TV set, that t-shirt from your best summer vacation ever… the list could be endless. And yet, even though all these are items, there are such in everyone’s life. It’s not materialism, it’s the clean notion, that sometimes we recreate and upgrade ourselves through items. Cause items are not just useful. They bring memories; they recreate, they empower imagination. So there can’t be real home without the belongings you possess.
